Expand the "Mail and Newsgroups" section by clicking the plus [+] by the title.
Click on "Mail and Newsgroups" if this is not yet selected.
This is mainly for formatting and your own preferences, but selecting "Fixed width font"
in the Display section here will allow you to view messages as they are viewed with
most mail programs to aid in compatability.
Select the "Identity" section.
The biggest priority in this window is the email address. This should be set to your
login name@eskimo.com (or anything at your domain if you host a domain with us). You
can enter anything you wish for "Your name".
Select the "Mail Servers" icon.
Chances are in this window, you want to add a new entry in the (possibly empty) list of
mail servers. Click on "Add" to do this in the following two windows:
In the "General" tab of the server properties window, the server name should be set to "mail.eskimo.com" and set to the "POP3" type in the available list. Your username would be the login name you requested (not the one assigned for your 56k/ISDN or other access); this is your email address without the "@eskimo.com".
In the "POP" tab of the same window, the "Leave messages on server" selection should be UNchecked (turned off) so that once you download your messages, they are not stored and forgotten on the server. If this is not set, be sure to delete messages from the server manually on occasion, since larger mailboxes will need longer time to search for new messages. Click "OK".
Back at the "Mail Servers" window, set the outgoing SMTP server to "mail.eskimo.com" and enter your login name as the user name; again, this is the email address you requested without the "@eskimo.com". Be sure to select "Never" in the options for Secure Socket Layer (SSL).
Select the "Formatting" option.
To keep your outgoing mail compatable with everyone else's mail programs (especially those
not also using Netscape Messenger), be sure to select "Plain text" for both the formatting
and sending options. Click "OK".
The first time you log in to retrieve mail, you will be asked for
your password. Use the same password you use for your regular Eskimo
account (not the one we assigned to you for 56k/ISDN or other access).
You can select (turn on) the option of saving your password in the
"Mail Server Properties - General" selection screen (shown above).
NOTE: If you have a non-dedicated (real) SLIP/PPP account,
you may have a different password set for logging in via SLIP/PPP.
Your mail password is the same as your emulated SLIP/PPP password.
